The hangar is a place where a player's unused ships are parked. There are several different types of hangar, including three different tiers. The higher tiers are acquired alongside more expensive ships, but can also be purchased as a separate upgrade.
The hangar was one of the first features of the game to be released, as part of the Hangar module.
Hangar tiers[]
Discount Hangar[]
The discount hangar is the basic hangar level. It is available with the Aurora or the 300i.
Business Hangar[]
The business hangar is the intermediate hangar level, for higher-spenders. It is available with the Hornet and the Freelancer. It is also temporarily available with pirate ships while the Asteroid Hangar is under development for the Pirate Pack.
Deluxe Hangar[]
The deluxe hangar is the highest class of hangar, able to fit any ship currently in the game. It features elevators to the upper level and a buggy to travel around.
Asteroid Hangar[]
The asteroid hangar (sometimes referred to as the pirate hangar) is an unreleased hangar designed for pirate ships such as the Cutlass or the Caterpillar.[1]
Organization Hangar[]
Chris Roberts has talked about organization-wide hangars in an interview.
"Most definitely we're going to have a Guild Hangar. That wouldn't be free, but it would be something the guild would have to put together to own."
Followed up in an episode of 10 for the Chairman:
A: Yes, we do have plans to have organization hangars which are much bigger, shared - they'll be communal. We're going to allow organizations to also be able to buy ships: I think I've said before, organizations will be able to tithe/tax/demand fees from their members and they should be able to loan them out to various members to use. And I guess you'd probably let players - they could probably leave their ship there, especially if they're taking off an organization-owned ship. So yes.
Hangar decorations[]
Several decorations are available for the Hangar. Most can be bought on Voyager Direct.
