The Stanton system is a scaled-up corporate business park. Four massive SuperEarth worlds have been heavily terraformed for their resources by the UEE, but have since been sold to the highest bidder. The buyers were some of the largest galactic corporations, paying trillions of galactic credits.
Initially, the transfer was mostly ceremonial. The population of each world did not automatically belong to the corporations, but the owners have moved to consolidate power and completely exploit each world's resources.
The corporate headquarters of these four corporations are located on the worlds now named after them:
- Microtech produces electronics, including handheld scanners and ship computer upgrades
- Hurston Dynamics is a weapons provider for the civilian market
- ArcCorp manufactures fusion engines
- Crusader Industries constructs and operates slowboat colonies
